Introduction to Cybercrime

This course introduces learners to the nature of cybercrime from technical, legal, and criminological perspectives. It explains what cybercrime is in simple and technical terms, examines the legal framework of RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012), and discusses common cybercrimes such as phishing, hacking, online scams, identity theft, cyber libel, malware-related attacks, and account takeovers. It also explores why cybercrime matters in modern criminology, how digital offenders operate, how victims are targeted, and what ordinary people, students, and professionals must know to stay safer in the digital environment.
